SocINDEX is a robust sociology research database. It provides full-text, peer-reviewed sociology journals and indexed records from top sociology journals covering a number of subject such as: 

  •  gender studies,
  • criminal justice,
  • social psychology,
  • racial studies,
  • religion
  • social work

The Vogue Archive contains back files of issues dating back to 1892 to present day, preserving the work of the worlds greatest designer, stylists and photographers, covering subjects such as 

  • Textiles and dressed 
  • Fashion History
  • Popular Culture 
  • Hair & Beauty trends 
  • Gender studies 
  • Photographic & Graphic design 
  • Marketing and Advertising.

You can log in to the database directly by selecting the textbooks & Ebooks tab from your course area Libguide, then Ebook databases.  You will be asked to enter a username and password, this is your usual college log on details. 

Once you have accessed the database you will need to create an account.

  • Click on the person logo at the top right of the screen
  • Click sign in to My Research (you will be directed to another page).
  • Select 'create my resources account'. You will need to enter some personal details then select create account.

This database is available to all Wigan & Leigh College students who are studying a UCLan course. You will need you UCLan log on details to be able to access resources, if you haven't been issued your log on details please speak to your tutor. You can also find information relating to the UCLan card by following the 'UCLan Card'  link below.

UCLan online resources are available 24/7 providing you have access to an internet connection. You will be able to access items such as ebooks, Journals, Articles, Reviews and Reports   

You will be able to access a range of online resources which the University subscribes to by performing a basic search using keywords, title or author.
