Welcome to Learning Resources
Wigan & Leigh College currently operates three Learning Resource Centres (LRCs). At the Wigan campus, there is an LRC in both the Parson's Walk and Pagefield buildings. At the Leigh campus, there is a Centre in the Leigh College building. Each LR Centre provides access to the college library service, information technology and online resources in a comfortable, supervised and supportive environment.
You are welcome to use any of the LR Centres irrespective of your normal place of study.
Each centre is equipped with Desktop, Laptop and Tablet PCs for you to use, and in addition, the cross-college WiFi service allows you to connect to the Internet via your personal device.
A wide range of printed (books, magazines and subject specific) material is also available for you to read and borrow, but do remember that the books that are on the shelves in each Centre, have been selected to support the courses that take place within that building.
The LR Team are experienced and friendly, and will be pleased to help you to find the information that you are looking for as well as help you make use of the available resources. If you wish, you may book a one-to-one informal training session with a member of the team to cover a specific resource or service provision. Current Opening Times
As a response to the covid-19 pandemic, the three LR Centres are currently operating with restricted access. This means that each LR Centre currently providing a help-desk for general enquiries, a 'Click & Collect' library service and access to the printer/photocopier. There is no general open access to the facilities.
Each Centre is currently open (in a restricted capacity) Monday to Friday - 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.
