Digital Literacy: VDI Horizon

VMware Horizon

VMware Horizon is an end-to-end solution for managing and delivering virtualised or physical desktops and virtual application delivery to end-users.  This means that you can remotely log in to your college account from anywhere and use it as if you're logged onto a machine within the college.  VMware can be used via an application that you can install on many different devices or it can be used via an HTML browser, this is particularly helpful for products such as Chromebooks which have limited storage space.

The benefits of using VMware Horizon are:

  • If you have saved work on the college network and need access to these documents
  • If you're using a device with little storage space for Applications such as Office.
  • You require specialist software either as part of your course such as Adobe Creative Suite or for learning difficulties such as Claro.

Please ask if you have any problems or you need access to any specialist software.  There may be other ways to access this software than this method.

We have created a guide to help you through this process.  You would need Office365 Authentication to be able to login to your account.  This guide is in the Useful Guides section on this page.
