The ICMJE

The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)

Vancouver is the citation style used by most biomedical journals, and was created by a group of editors of medical journals. It was established at a meeting in Vancouver in 1978, which is where the name comes from.  This group evolved into the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

The current members of the ICMJE are Annals of Internal Medicine, British Medical Journal, Bulletin of the World Health Organization, Deutsches Ärzteblatt (German Medical Journal), Ethiopian Journal of Health Sciences, JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association), Journal of Korean Medical Science, المجلة الطبية التونسية (Medical Tunisia), Nature Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, New Zealand Medical Journal, PLOS Medicine, The Lancet, the U.S. National Library of Medicine, and the World Association of Medical Editors.
