The Learning Resources Guide: Placing a hold on an item

Placing a HOLD on an item.

Placing a HOLD on an item

You may place a reservation (hold) on an item by simply contacting the LRC Help Desk, or by using the Library Catalogue.  When you do place a hold, you will be able to specify the LR Centre at which you wish to collect the item.

Once the item is available for you to collect, an email will be sent to your college email address to notify you.  It is therefore important that you check your college email regularly.  Once the email has been sent to you, the item will normally be available for you to collect for seven days. After this time, your reservation will automatically be cancelled and the item will be returned to the shelves.

At the time of writing (June 2021) general browsing of the book shelves and the casual handling of books is not possible as we continue to provide a covid-secure environment.  For this reason, we are encouraging all borrowers to use our 'click & collect library service which involves placing holds as the norm.   Our guide to the click & collect service describes the process of placing holds via the library catalogue.
